Dai removed these files on Sept 10 2002 to make space on /home/hilo/ftp which was full. These data have been quality controlled now in the rescue project. See Dai for details. --------- taodata/sail/older These data have NOT been thoroughly checked for quality, so be aware that you are using these data at your own risk. This directory contains the older high resolution wind data available from the older versions of the electronics tubes. The time word on all of these files is the time that the average was made (i.e., end of the average period). The PW,HW, and RW files contain date (yyddd), time word (hhmm, GMT), U (east-west) vector component of the wind, V (north-south) vector component of the wind. Both U and V are reported in meters/second. U (V) is positive when the wind is blowing towards the east (north). The HM files also contain relative humidity data. PW: 1 hr averaged: sampled at 2 hz continuously and then vector averaged. RW: 2 hr averaged: sampled at 2 hz continuously and then vector averaged. HW: 6 hr averaged: sampled at 2 hz for 1 minute out of every 10 and vector avg. HM: 6 hr averaged: sampled at 2 hz for 1 minute out of every 10 and vector avg. If you GET any of these data, please notify "atlasrt@pmel.noaa.gov" so that we can inform you of any modifications to the data sets. Also, please provide a 1-2 line description of your intended use of the data, so that we can advise you of other TAO analysis projects underway on related topics. If you use TAO data in publications, please acknowledge the TOGA-TAO Project Office, Dr. Michael J. McPhaden, Director. Also, we would appreciate receiving a preprint and/or reprint of those publications utilizing TOGA-TAO data for inclusion in the TAO bibliography.
