FERRET documentation: *sh* 11/91 updated 4/94 Documentation files are provided in two forms - Postscript for printing and ASCII text for on-line browsing. Postscript files may be identified by the filename extension ".ps"; text files by the extension ".txt" The procedure print_ferret_docs has been provided to print out the documents available in the $FER_DIR/doc directory. Please look at that procedure to determine the contents of each individual file in this directory. The text version of the FERRET Users Guide has been split into three separate files: ferret_users_guide.txt (the body of the Users Guide), ferret_ug_toc.txt (table of contents), and ferret_ug_index.txt (index). Do not delete these files - they are used by the FERRET on-line help tools Fapropos, Fhelp, Ftoc, and Findex. A straggler file, "setting_up_a_time_axis.txt", has some coaching on setting up time axes - translations between calendar dates and time step numbers. Although this file is written to describe GT-formatted files the techniques described are also valid in setting up netCDF time axes.
