Subject: Tidal data : Netherlands

Dear Mrs. Watson,

The attached zipfile ( WinZip under Windows XP ) contains the 10 minute
averaged water level data from 24 December 2004 through 1 January 2005
of 18 Dutch gauges, in 18 text files.

In geographical order :

cad.txt Cadzand
wka.txt Westkapelle
roo.txt Roompot buiten
bg8.txt Brouwershavensche Gat 8
h10.txt Haringvliet 10
eur.txt Euro platform *
leg.txt Lichteiland Goeree *
hvh.txt Hoek van Holland
sch.txt Scheveningen
mpn.txt Meetpost Noordwijk *
ijm.txt IJmuiden buitenhaven
pet.txt Petten zuid
hel.txt Den Helder
k13.txt K13 Alpha * +
tex.txt Texel Noordzee
ter.txt Terschelling Noordzee
wie.txt Wierumergronden
hui.txt Huibertgat

* only 25 through 28 December ( 48 data records )
+ in cm + MSL ( or in fact : a Tide Gauge Zero chosen near MSL )

The text files each contain 3 text records, followed by data records with
12 data a record in fixed format ( 12i6 ).
All data, except those of K13 Alpha, are in cm + NAP.
NAP ( Normaal Amsterdams Peil ) is the national terrestric survey level
of the Netherlands.

The position of the gauges is given in the second text records, and
may be found on our website with real time data
http://www.actuelewaterdata.nl .

The four offshore gauges marked with an asterisk above belong to
the Meetnet Noordzee ( MNZ ), the others to the Monitoring
Systeem Water ( MSW ). MNZ data are stored in our database ( DONAR,
http://www.donarweb.nl ) with a latency of 8 to 11 days, but
MSW data already the next day.

All data of the national monitoring programs in DONAR are
downloadable from the web ( http://www.waterbase.nl ), but only
after about 2 months.

 with best regards,

My name is Misty Watson and I am a researcher with the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, Tsunami Group, USA. We are currently looking at tidal data from various tidal stations to better understand the recent tsunami. We are interested in any sea level data from all available sources. It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with data you have collected. The ideal data would be the highest available sampling frequency and span from 12/25/04 ,18:00 UTC to 1/01/05, 0000 UTC. Please let us know if you can provide any assistance.

Thank you,
Misty Watson
